"Charles Wright Spencer, b. circa 1805 ( i believe the one that died was born 1st before Anna in 1800), and Chas.W.Spencer died in Plainfield, IL in 1867. He is buried in the Old Plain- field Cemetery, with 5 other of my Spencer clan (his kin). He married a Miss Emily HUNTINGTON in Shaftsbury, VT and they had,first, in 1833, Mary E. Spencer, then, in 1842, my great-grandfather, Wright C.(known as "Charlie") Spencer, and then their little brother Dr.Horace Spencer (b.1846)-all born in Shaftsbury, VT. When their mom died--c.1855 in Shaftsbury, Chas.W. was re-married by 1857 to another cousin (as was Emily Huntington his 1st wife), to Lucy DRAPER. He with his 2nd wife and two sons (daughter Mary E. stayed behind in VT), they all went to Plainfield, IL in 1858. In the SPENCER Plot of the Old Plainfield Cemetery are the following graves: 1) as mentioned above, that of Charles W. Spencer, 2) his 2nd wife, Lucy (nee Draper) SPENCER, 3) their son, Dr.Horace Spencer, 4) his daughter (by Horace's 1st wife, Hattie (nee Corbin), Florence Spencer, 5) Horace's 2nd wife, Sarah (nee Finley)SPENCER, 6) Horace and Sarah's son, Dr. Charles H. Spencer. The only one Missing is the 2nd daugher of Dr. Horace & (his 1st wife) Hattie (nee Corbin)SPENCER--that of Mary (called "May")Spencer..."
