John Hamilton Adams.
An Aged Resident of This City Has Passed Away.
John Hamilton Adams died March 4th in the 74th year of his age, at No. 57 South Clinton street, where he resided. Deceased was born in Lyons, this state, November 12, 1824. His parents were John Adams and Rebecca Bemis Hamilton. He was educated at Geneva, now Hobart College, and was in the class of 1847. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Society. In 1847 he married Sophia Adeline Wood, daughter of Seneca Wood and Sophia Adaline Burnham.
Mr. Adams was in business with his father in Lyons until 1857, when he removed to Rochester, and had been a continuous resident here, with the exception of about two years, when he was engaged in building what is now the Des Moines Valley railroad in Iowa.
During his residence here he had not been engaged in active business, but was the executor of several large estates and manager of various...Read MORE...
