Biography
NIQUET, Pierre-René... arrived in Canada about 1664 from the Saintonge region of France where he had been born around 1642. Niquet married a fille-du-roi, Françoise Lemoine in June of 1666 at Cap-de-la-Madeleine. She had arrived in Canada the previous year from Paris. The couple had 11 children. One son, Jean Niquet received a permit in 1694 to travel west to the Great Lakes region for the purpose of fur trading. A daughter, Marie Niquet married to Dominique Jutras in 1684 is an ancestor in the Cameron line.

This family was in Champlain, P.Q. in 1681.

M. de Tonnacour, des Trois-Rivieres, subdelegue de l'intendant de la Nouvelle-France, decide, le 8 juillet 1720, que Pierre Nicquet, habitant de St-Francoies, et Francoise LeMoyne, sa femme, ont le droit de ceder a Jean-Baptiste Jutras dit Desrosiers, leur petit-fils, tous leurs bien-fonds et immeubles situes sur le chenal Tardif, et tout ce qui le appartient dans le seigneurie de St-Francois, a tirre de donaison. Ce jugement fut annule, le 6 octobre 1722, par un acte devant Lacetiere, notaire a Quebec. Etaient temoins: Charles Debled, marchand; Louis du Tissene, etudiant, tous deux de Quebec. Niquest, presnt, ne sait signer. Les signataires sont: ' Jean-Baptiste Joutras Derosiers, Francoise Lemoine, Debled, Tisne.'
