François NIQUET (NIQUETTE)  was born abt. 1677 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  François died 15 February 1709 in Saint-François-du-Lac, Québec, Canada.  François was the child of Pierre-René NIQUET (NIQUETTE) and Françoise LEMOINE.

Claude-Marie  married  (2) Jean-Baptiste-Louis HAREL 2 March 1710 in Saint-François-du-Lac, Canada, New France .  The couple had (at least) 4 children.
Jean-Baptiste-Louis HAREL  was born 9 September 1682 in Bécancour, Nicolet, Québec, Canada (Nativité-de-Notre-Dame-de-Becancour) (Saint-Edouard-de-Gentilly).  Jean-Baptiste-Louis died 22 July 1725 in Saint-François-du-Lac, Québec, Canada.  Jean-Baptiste-Louis was the child of Jean-Marie-Victor-François HAREL and Marie-Madeleine PESCHER.

Claude-Marie  married  (3) Gilles BADAILLAC dit LAPLANTE 22 July 1725 in Saint-François-du-Lac, Canada, New France .  Gilles BADAILLAC dit LAPLANTE  was born 3 May 1682 in Sorel, Québec, Canada (Saint-Pierre).  Gilles died 2 August 1769 in Yamaska, Québec, Canada (Saint-Michel-d'Yamaska).  Gilles was the child of Louis BADAILLAC dit LAPLANTE (BADAYAC) and Catherine DE LALORE.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
