'Moses Rowe, the veteran trapper who formerly resided here, but who now lives on Brigham hill in Essex, narrowly escaped being drowned in the marsh April 1. His boat upset, throwing him into the icy water, and he was unable to reach shore. Timely help came from the Willow Bay house where he was taken in a chilled and exhausted condition.'
