Biography
Henry Alfred Barker was the son of Eliphaz & Hannah (Fish) Barker. His occupation was listed as a farmer and on February 15, 1843 he married Lydia Maria Peckham the daughter of Phillip & Patience (Peckham) Peckham. They had 8 children, 5 of which, listed on the back of the headstone, never married or had children.

Henry's mother died when he was 7 years old and Henry himself died before his father Eliphaz. When the shares of the Estate of Eliphaz were distributed among Henry's 9 surviving siblings, Henry's share ($112) of his fathers estate, was divided between his 8 children each receiving $14.

Of the 8 children born to Henry & Lydia, the only remaining child currently not linked to this memorial is the eldest, Celia Maria (Barker) Shaw. She was born ca 1844 Middletown, Newport, RI, married 1870 to George H. Shaw (1852-1906) and she died in Providence, RI April 1, 1895. Her place of burial is currently unknown.
