CALLED A POLICEMAN NAMES
K. O. Cyrus Would Not Stay Back of The Fire Lines and Was Arrested.

Karl O. Cyrus, druggist on Fairfield avenue, and one of the well known men in Bridgeport, got fresh at the fire last night and insisted on breaking through the line that had been stretched across the street to keep people back from interfering with the firemen. Officer Williams told him to stay back and pushed him a couple of times. Cyrus called him a d--n fool and then he was arrested. He is charged with violating a city ordinance. Under this ordinance the chief of the fire department can block travel on any street and establish fire lines in case of fire. Cyrus was released on $25 bonds. He promises to make matters interesting in the city court to-morrow morning.

Auto Hits, Injures Carl O. Cyrus, 84

Carl O. Cyrus, 84, of 1155 Fairfield avenue, retired pharmacist, today was reported in fairly good condition by attendants in Bridgeport hospital where he is under treatment for multiple bruises received, police said, when he was struck by a truck at 3 p.m. yesterday in front of 61 Sherwood avenue.

John B Villella 24 of 29 Weibe avenue Stratford, driver was backing from a driveway at the Sherwood avenue address when he struck Mr. Cyrus police said. Mr. Villella was given a summons on a charge of violating the state auto laws.

Services Monday for Karl Cyrus

Private services will take place Monday for Karl O. Cyrus, 87, operator of Cyrus Drug store, Fairfield avenue and Courtland street 55 years until his retirement in 1948 who died yesterday in the Soundview Rest home. They will be conducted in the Henry E. Bishop and Son funeral home, 1139 Fairfield avenue. The Rev. Joseph A. Racioppi, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Grove cemetery.

Born in Norrkoping, Sweden, Jan. 23, 1867, Mr. Cyrus came here in 1888 and first established a pharmacy at 415 Fairfield avenue. He moved to the Fairfield-Courtland corner in 1909 where he remained until his retirement.
He formerly resided at 32 Hazelwood avenue.

APPROVAL ASKED TO SETTLE CLAIM
A hearing on an application by Mrs. Alice Windsor Cyrus, of Bridgeport, for authority to settle a claim resulting from a traffic accident in which her late father-in-law, Karl O. Cyrus, was injured five months prior to his death will take place at 10 a.m. June 30 before Probate Judge John F. Flanagan.

As executrix, Mrs. Cyrus is seeking permission to accept settlement of $7,500 in the claim of the estate against Paul J. Pellegrino and John Vilella, owner and driver, respectively, of a truck which struck Karl Cyrus on Sherwood avenue last Nov. 8.

Mr. Cyrus, retired Bridgeport druggist, died last April 7. Under the terms of his will, his entire estate was left to his daughter-in-law, widow of his son Charles W. Cyrus, who died in 1951.
