PICARD - nickname given to someone who is from Picardy, a former province in northern France. They were nicknamed by this name when they arrived in Canada a long time ago. They were 18 siblings. We can also find the ''Picard-des-trois-maison''. In Picardy, there were 3 houses for Picardians and thus, there were two lines of the Picard family.
Pierre Picard was baptized on September 25, 1650 in Dieppe, Seine-Maritime, France. Son of David Picard and Jacquette Barbe, he married a daughter of the king, Jeanne Sederay-Cederat, of unknown parentage, on July 21, 1669 in Boucherville. The couple have 12 children. A servant who arrived in 1666, he was confirmed at Trois-Rivières. He then lived in Boucherville and Repentigny. Farmer, he develops and sells land. In 1681, he owns 1 gun, 5 cattle and 12 arpents of land. In 1696, he worked with his family on a farm belonging to the sisters of the Congrégation Notre-Dame. He died in Trois-Rivières and was buried there on June 29, 1726.
