The German Evangelical Lutheran church - In 1859, when the Protestant German population of Pittsfield was about 400, arrangements were made by a portion of them for devine service in their own language. These services were first held in private houses, and with occasional visits by clergymen from New York. But in April, 1859, Rev. Augustus Grotrain, a learned and able minister of Albany, accepted a call, and organized the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pittsfield. The town subsequently granted a pleasant site in the corner of First street burial-ground, where the church was erected, at a cost of $2,274.00 and which was dedicated September 14, 1865. There present pastor is Rev. John D. Hagar.

NOTE: Not sure who the Laumeisters are -- William appears to have been married to Julia? Julia died in Baldwinsville on Monday, Dec 1, 1919, at ages 63 - obit in Baldwinsville Gazette Farmers' Journal states that she is survived by her husband and two sons.
