Biography
LEDUC - agglutination of 'the Duke', an ironic nickname given to the person who is reproached for giving himself a haughty and superior air, like the Grand Duke, the bird of prey.
Pierre Leduc was born around 1670 in Saint-Laurent de Rouen in Normandy. Son of master furbisher Pierre Leduc and Anne Martin, he married Catherine Fortin (16), daughter of Louis Fortin and Catherine Godin, on June 28, 1700 in Lachine. From their union were born 11 children. He arrived in the country as a soldier in the company of Sieur Lamothe on July 6, 1691. He was a boilermaker. In 1700, he settled in Lachine. He died in Sainte-Anne de Bellevue in February 1740.
