"As the friendship between the 29-year-old Robert and the Cloutier family grew stronger, he sought the hand in marriage of the 10-year-old daughter of his employer. Anne Cloutier was born in Perche in January of 1626, the daughter of Zacharie and Xainte Dupont... The marriage was to take place as soon as possible, however, the newlyweds were to continue to live in the Cloutier home for a period of three years... Their marriage was celebrated on 12 July 1637, in the church of Notre-Dame de Quebec, but their first child, Agnes, did not come into the world until January of 1641, after those three years of parental surveillance."

Biography
DROUIN, ROBERT, pioneer on the Beaupré shore; baptized 6 Aug. 1607 at Pin-la-Garenne, Perche, son of Robert Drouin and Marie Dubois; d. 1 June 1685 and was buried at Château-Richer the next day.
The date of Drouin’s arrival in Canada is not known, but it is certain that he was here by 1636. In 1641 he already had a farm near the Rivière aux Chiens on the Beaupré shore, although he did not receive the concession for it until 17 April 1646. By his marriage with Anne Cloutier, which was celebrated on 12 July 1637 in the parish of Notre-Dame de Québec, he had three daughters; by his second marriage, with Marie Chapelier, which was celebrated on 29 Nov. 1649 in the same place, he had eight more children.
It is almost impossible to trace any French-Canadian genealogy without encountering Robert Drouin among the earliest ancestors. That would seem to us to be his greatest claim to fame. It is also to be noted that his marriage contract with Anne Cloutier (which preceded by nearly a...Read MORE...

'He was in Canada in 1636 and in 1641, he already had a farm near the Rivière aux Chiens (river of dogs). His marriage contract of July 27 1636, (one year after the religious ceremony) which was concluded in the house of Robert Giffard and executed by Jean Guyon du Buisson in the absence of a notary, is the oldest marriage document preserved in the original in Canada. It seems that he is the ancestor of all Drouin in the country. '

Cap de la Madeleine
First land concessions 1649
The map above shows the first land concessions on the Cap. One sees Pierre and Mathurin's lots (5th and 6th from right). On a modern map of Cap de la Madeleine, Pierre's land was, according to Marcel Trudel, author of "Le Terrier du St Laurent en 1663", between Celina and Viviers steets and from the bottom of Erables street up to the first park on the street.
One also finds the lands of men that played role's in our ancestor's life and/ or are in our family tree: Claude Houssard dit le Petit Claude was his father-in-law, Nicolas Rivard was his brother-in-law (his great grandaughter married Pierre's grandson, Joseph - ancestral grandparents!), Pierre Boucher - his sister, Marie was the grandmother of Marie Trottier who married Pierre's son, Louis.
