Arthur Mantha of Fiskdale Says He Knows the Way His Horse Strides
Fiskdale, Feb. 12. - Wildly waving both arms in the air and look about him as though in a dazed condition, Arthur Mantha, owner of a farm in East Brimfield, and manager of a milk route in Fiskdale, shouted: 'Somebody's stolen my horse and leight. Have you seen anybody drive off with my milk sleigh? It was filled with milk caps.'
The question was repeated several times to a crew of men who were shoveling off the snow from the sidewalks, under the supervision of Street commissioner, Charles M. Clarke.
'I left my horse standing right here, not more than 10 minutes ago,' said Mr. Mantha, pointing to the identical spot, in front of the Fiskdale house.
A little investigation caused Mantha to exclaim, 'Them's his horseshoe prints, all right. You can't fool me on the way that horse strides.'

FISKDALE, June 24. - Worcester south agricultural society observed its annual opening of the light harness sport at Sturbridge fairgrounds, this afternoon. The judges called the 2.30 class to the half-mile track at 2 o'clock and the final heat of the 2.25 class trot or pace was finished at 7.05 o'clock. About 500 people witnessed the races.
The feature was a race between Joseph Goddard and Arthur Mantha. Mr. Goddard is 102 years old, and has been driving horses 90 years. Mantha lives in East Brimfield and challenged Joseph to race him for a half-mile for $10 on a aide. A friend of the centenarian back old Joe for $10. Mr. Goddard hitched Mid-Victorian to a high-wheeled sulky and Mantha drove his Dobbin in a buggy. When Mr. Goddard crossed the wire 125 yards ahead of the Mantha mare he was given thundering applause...
