Born in Cranston, a son of the late Eric H. and Maria (Abrahams) Holmander, he was a lifelong resident of Warwick.

He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II.

Mr. Holmander had been a forestry technician for the RI Division of Environmental Management, and prior to his employment with the state he served as an aircraft mechanic at Quonset Naval Air Station.

He was a member of Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church, a member of the National Rifle Association and the Wincheck Gun Club and The Little Rhody Rovers Motorcycle Club.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Kelley M. Holmander, and a son Keith R. Holmander, both of West Kingston; a sister, Lillian E. Baker of Warwick; a brother, Eric J. Holmander of East Greenwich; and two grandchildren.He was the brother of the late John H. Holmander.

His funeral was held from Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95), with a Requiem Eucharist in Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257...Read MORE...


2009 Death of her brother
Eric J. Holmander, 84, of East Greenwich, passed away at home June 19, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth C. (Jackson) Holmander for 59 years. Loving father of Sarah Joan, John D., and the late James C. Holmander.

Eric retired in 1987 from Unocal Corporation of East Providence. He was a WW II Veteran, serving in The U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946.

Born in Boston, he was the son of Maria (Abrahams) Holmander and Eric H. Holmander. He is survived by his sister Lillian Baker of Warwick. He was the brother of the late John H. Holmander and Richard L. Holmander. He is also survived by two granddaughters, five grandsons, and four great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Sunday June 21, 2009 from 5-8 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Obituary
Lillian E. (Holmander) Baker, 96, of Warwick, died Saturday at the West View Nursing Home, in West Warwick. She was the wife of the late John Albert Baker.

Mrs. Baker was born in Hyde Park MA, a daughter of the late Eric H. & Maria (Abraham) Holmander.

Lillian was a Medical Technician for over 22 years, before retiring in 1960. She was a communicant of St. Mark Episcopal Church, Warwick, a member of the West Bay Christian Womens Club for over 20 years.

Lillian was a member of the Warwick Wanderers (Walking Group) for over 13 years, a member of the Leisure Learning Group of St. Luke Episcopal Church of East Greenwich, the Hamilton House, Providence, Lifetime Learning Group of Central Congregational Church of Providence. She was also a member of St. Augustine Senior Citizens Group.

Mrs. Baker was the devoted mother of Dr. John A. Baker Jr. and his wife Patricia of Conway AK, Barry J. Baker of Dedham MA., Nancy A. Bishop and her husband Gene of Ashland N.H., Beryl L. Maynard...Read MORE...
