Known as Operation Overlord, it involved over 156,000 troops from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and other Allied nations. MERIDEN - Howard E. Blessing, 89, husband of the late Frances (Koncki) Blessing passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

He was born Sept. 3, 1919 in Meriden, a son of the late William and Agnes (Schroeder) Blessing, he had worked in the tool and die department of New Departure for 38 years, before retiring. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved gardening at home and at his special summer home in Maine.

Howard is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and William Hall, of Meriden, Deborah and John Troio, of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Monica Blessing, of Lancaster, N.H.; two sons and their wives, Dr. Howard and Karen Blessing, of Walla Walla, Wash. and Gregory and Kathleen Blessing, of Willington; and 12 adored grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Jonathan Hall, Marco and Jenna Troio, Ian and Blake Boyko, Timothy and Kim...Read MORE...
