BLESSING, Dorothy Houser
Dorothy Houser Blessing, 91, of Wethersfield, wife of the late Warren J. Blessing, Sr., died on Friday, (March 23, 2012) at Hartford Hospital. She was born on October 24, 1920 in Normal, IL, the daughter of the late Christian and Sivilla Houser. She and her family moved to Ponca City, OK where she graduated from Ponca City High School in 1939. Dorothy married Warren in 1945 during World War II in Oklahoma. They returned to Wethersfield where they resided all of their life. They enjoyed 66 years of loving marriage. They have two sons, Warren, Jr. and his wife Lynda of Coventry, and Burton Dean of East Hampton; three grandchildren, Jonathan Blessing and his wife Marcelle of New Haven, Sarah Blessing of Coventry, and Matthew Blessing of Glastonbury; one special great-granddaughter Eleanor, and a sister-in-law Betty Houser Uzell in Henderson, NV. Special thanks to the family care giver Ulvi Peenojo. Dorothy was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she spent many years serving on the Altar Guild. Dorothy joined the Eastern Star Chapter in Wethersfield and continued on to join the Aisha Temple No. 83, Daughters of the Nile in 1971 and served in many positions; Pr. Banker and Pr. Recorder and was crowned Queen in 1988 and was a member of "Tommie's Doves". Dorothy received many Supreme Appointments to the Supreme Temple of the Daughters of the Nile through the years. She was a true and loyal Lady of the Household for 41 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington at Newington Memorial. Interment will be private in the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA.
