SOUTHBRIDGE -- Felix P. "Red" Carmel, 90, of 60 Charlton St., a retired market manager, died Saturday, Jan. 15, at Harrington Memorial Hospital after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Gertrude (Lippe) Carmel a son, Raymond P. Carmel of Southbridge a daughter, Rita A. Berry of Dudley seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was born in Providence, R.I., son of Joseph and Victoria (Corriveau) Carmel. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Carmel managed the South Street Market for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary's Church.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at St. Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton St. After cremation, burial in St. George Cemetery will be at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., is directing arrangements.
