Obituary

Paul Richard Gaudette, 82, of Mashpee, formerly of Dracut, passed away peacefully at home after a six month battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, on December 15, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Christine Gaudette for 35 years and son to the late Simon and Genevieve Gaudette.

Paul initially worked in the printing industry, working for the Courier Citizen in Lowell and The Denver Post in Denver, CO. He then worked as a building inspector in Dracut and Assistant Building Commissioner in Lowell. Most recently he was a general contractor and built their retirement home in Mashpee. Paul enjoyed creating things out of wood, most notably clocks and ornate cutting boards.

He was an avid skier, for over 40 years made annual ski trips to Colorado and Utah with "The Guys". He was a biking enthusiast, and rode 15 to 20 miles several times a week. He loved riding bikes so much he even rode a few miles while on chemotherapy. He loved being "Captain Paul" on his boat, taking family and friends fishing and sightseeing. He held a private pilots license as well. Paul was very active in his communities. He was a member of the Rotary International and volunteered at Town Hall in Mashpee and at the polling sites. He donated meals every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Paul never met a stranger. He would meet someone and know half their life story in 10 minutes. Paul loved spending time with his family and was a wise-cracker, tickler, napper and loved entertaining his family with stories.

In addition to his wife Christine, Paul is survived by five children, Virginia Gaudette of Brattleboro, VT, William Gaudette and wife Catrina of Ogunquit, ME, John Fronske and wife Kristen of Brookline, Jay Gaudette and fiancee Kori Wood of Leominster, Christian Gaudette of Brighton. He is also survived by his sister Carol Charpentier and husband Dennis Gonsalves of Marstons Mills, 12 grandchildren Ian, Summer, Sam, Charles, Kimberly, Xavier, Tonek, Hope, Paul III, Eli, Jay, Adreyan, 1 great grandchild, Kai, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Paul Gaudette Jr., his grandson Henry, and his brothers Francis and James Gaudette.
