Doctor Appears in Death Mystery

Denies Knowledge of Affair - Woman Whose Body Found in Suitcases in River Identified and Traced

"Cambridge, Sept. 14 - Dr. William M. Robb, Boston physician, who has been sought for three days for questioning in connection with circumstances surrounding the disappearance of two suit cases similar to those in which the torso and limbs of a woman were found in the Merrimack river at Tyngsboro the 1st and 2d, drove up to the East Cambridge courthouse in his automobile late today and went into conference with Dist-Atty Arthur K. Reading of Middlesex county. He denied any knowledge of the case and said he had hurried back from a vacation in Philadelphia as soon as he learned from his wife that he was wanted. The physician spent the evening with the district attorney answering questions as to his movements during the days preceding the 1st."

"The arrival of Dr. Robb came as a climax to a day of sensational developments. In the forenoon Dist Atty Reading had announced that the headless body found floating in the Merrimack was that of Mrs Alice M. Wolschedorf, 43, of East Bridgewater, mother of four children, and wife of George A. Wolschendorf, but separated from her husband."

"Later in the day, the husband and Charles H. Orcutt of Somerville, a brother of Mrs Wolschendorf, went to Lowell and positively identified the body. A double vaccination mark on the left arm, and a small scar on the middle finger of the left hand, the result of a minor operation performed 15 years ago were considered sufficient evidence. The authorities announced that an X-ray photograph would be taken of one of the legs to ascertain whether the bones showed the marks of an old fracture of which they had learned from the husband."

"Last Seen Entering Doctor's Office
Dist-Atty Reading announced that his investigation showed that Mrs Wolchendorf was last seen entering Dr Robb's office on August 27, on which day she was driven to Boston, in an automobile by her son Harold, and William Bowen, a Bridgewater real estate man who had formerly employed her."

"Dr Robb spent more than an hour closeted with the district attorney, and after they had gone out together to dinner, the questioning was resumed. It was announced that several witnesses would be called later in the evening, among them a man whose name had not been revealed, but who, according to the officers, was intimate with Mrs Wolschendorf."

"Dr. Dalva Swope of Brockton was also questioned. It became known that Mrs Wolschendorf had gone to him and he had refused to accept her case."
