Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Deceased Name: Myrtle A. Feige, 84, former hospital nurse
Myrtle A. (Atherton) Feige, 84, a retired registered nurse at Franklin County Memorial Hospital (now Franklin Medical Center) in Greenfield, Mass., died Sunday at the home of her daughter after a short illness.

Born in Hartford, Conn., she was graduated from the Franklin County Memorial and Boston, Mass., City Hospital Schools of Nursing.

She leaves a son, Pete A. of Westfield, Mass., and daughter, Susan J. Feige of Charleston, W.Va.

A memorial service will be conducted here later, with burial in Greater Hollywood Memorial Gardens. Barlow, Bonsall-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge, and memorial contributions may be made to the Public Library Children's Division, 2600 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, 33020.
