Pittsfield, MA

Vol XLIX Issue 2500 page 3
RAILROAD ACCIDENT
Mr. Roland Stebbins of Deerfield, was killed on the railroad, on Thursday last, by the 4 o'clock passenger train.
He was walking home from this place on the track, and had reached the cut just below Cheapside bridge, where there is also a curve in the road. Being deaf, he could not hear the alarm which was given as soon as he was seen by the engineer, and all the exertions to stop the train before it struck him were unavailing. Mr. S. was a single man about 45 years of age, son of the late Col. Asa Stebbins of Deerfield--(Franklin Democrat)
