Obituary
Former Welfare Official Dies in Southbridge

SOUTHBRIDGE - Hermas Lippe, 68, of 320 Elm St. died Thursday night in Rutland State Hospital.

He was born here, the son of John and Alida (Chabot) Lippe. He served on the Board of Public Welfare for 36 years until his retirement two years ago.

He had also been a call fireman in the fire department for 34 years and was promoted to captian in 1948.

Mr. Lippe was a retired employe of American Optical Co. and a member of its Quarter Century Club. He had also been a member of the Democratic Town Committee, Cercle Canadien Fraternal Order of Police, Eagles, Artisans, Southbridge Firefighters Association adn Central Massachusetts Welfare Association.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Isadora (Lapierre) Lippe; two daughters, Mrs. Louis Ciprari and Mrs. Leonard DiGregoria of Southbridge; three brothers, Romeo, Arcade and Ronaldo Lippe of Southbridge; two sisters, Mrs. Frank O. Delage of Sturbridge and Mrs. Romeo LeBoeuf of Southbridge, and...Read MORE...
