Martin  married  Catherine JACQUES 20 April 1722 in Charlesbourg, Québec, Canada, New France .  Catherine JACQUES  was born 30 April 1703 in Charlesbourg, Québec, Québec, Canada (Bourg Royal).  Catherine died 2 December 1736 in Batiscan, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Geneviève-de-Batiscan) (Saint-François-Xavier).  Catherine was the child of Louis JACQUES and Antoinette LEROUX.

Martin  married  (2) Marguerite CHAINE 4 March 1737 in Batiscan, Canada, New France .  Marguerite CHAINE  was born 25 January 1698 in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Québec, Canada (Beaupre).  Marguerite died 10 July 1740 in Batiscan, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Geneviève-de-Batiscan) (Saint-François-Xavier).  Marguerite was the child of Raymond CHESNÉ dit LAGRAVE (CHAINE) and Rose MAILLOT.

Martin  married  (3) Catherine CHAREST 27 September 1745 in La-Pérade, Canada, New France .  Catherine CHAREST  was born 23 December 1700 in Sainte-Famille-de-l'île-d'Orléans, Québec, Canada.  Catherine died 1 November 1770 in La-Pérade, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Anne-de-la-Perade).  Catherine was the child of Jean CHAREST and Catherine JOBIDON.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
