Angélique BENOIT  was born 7 June 1704 in Sainte-Famille-de-l'île-d'Orléans, Québec, Canada.  Angélique died 24 March 1730 in Deschambault, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Deschambault).  Angélique was the child of Pierre BENOIT dit ABEL and Marie DIONNE.

Jean  married  (2) Marie-Thérèse DESNOYERS 23 October 1730 in Cap-Santé, Canada, New France .  The couple had (at least) 2 children.
Marie-Thérèse DESNOYERS  was born 2 June 1697 in Montréal, Québec, Canada (Sault-au-Récollet) (Côte-St-Michel) (Côte-St-Paul).  Marie-Thérèse died 23 November 1747 in Cap-Santé, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Famille-du-Cap-Sante).  Marie-Thérèse was the child of François DESNOYERS dit LAMONTAGNE and Marie PERRAULT.

Jean  married  (3) Geneviève ARCAND dite BOURDELAIS 30 August 1751 in Deschambault, Canada, New France .  Geneviève ARCAND dite BOURDELAIS  was born 31 July 1708 in Deschambault, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Deschambault).  Geneviève died 14 January 1775 in Louiseville, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup).  Geneviève was the child of Simon ARCAND dit BOURDELAIS and Marie-Anne INARD.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
