Russell Firestone Taken By Death; Funeral Held
Yesterday's issue of The Gazette carried a short account of the death of Russel A. Firestone. Since Mr. Firestone had visited Gastonia on several occasions, his friends and acquaintances will be interested in the following biographical outline. It is recalled that he was the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. representative from Akron at the presentation of the Army-Navy 'E' award made to Firestone Textiles, Inc. On March 27, 1944.
Russel Allen Firestone, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey S. Firestone, was born in Akron, Ohio, December 3, 1901.
He attended Asheville school, Asheville, and completed his preparatory school education at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, N. H. He was active in athletics at school, particularly in football, and was a member of the Phillips Exeter golf team.
