Katharine Hepburn, often hailed as one of the greatest actresses in American film history, led a remarkable and unconventional life both on and off the screen. Born on May 12, 1907, in Hartford, Connecticut, Katharine Houghton Hepburn grew up in a progressive, intellectual household. Her parents, Thomas and Katharine Martha Houghton Hepburn, encouraged her independence and education from an early age.
Katharine was a spirited and athletic child, with a keen interest in sports. She attended Bryn Mawr College, where she honed her acting skills and became involved in the theater scene.
