Anne HÉBERT was the child of Louis HÉBERT and Marie ROLLET
Anne Hebert was born in 1603, in St. Gervais, Paris, France; the daughter of Louis Hebert and Marie Rollet. She arrived in Kebec with her parents on June 14, 1617; at the age of 14, and though her life would be short, she managed to make it to the record books.
On June 06, 1618; the fifteen year old, Anne Hebert would marry Etienne Joseph-Marie Jonquest, a young man who had arrived at the same time as the Heberts; one of the tradesmen brought over by the Company to help with the construction of the numerous buildings required for the settlement. He no doubt spent a great deal of time with Anne’s family, and an attraction developed between the young couple.
Their marriage would go down in history as the first performed in New France, by an actual priest; Father Joseph Le Caron. Anne died the following year, possibly from a small pox epidemic. She was was just 16.
Etienne and Anne had one child, whom they also named Etienne, but he died in infancy. I could find no further record of her husband, so he may have returned to France or joined the Coureur Des Bois.
