Biography
BOUDREAU-BOUDREAULT-BOUDROT - diminutive of BOUDIER, from the Germanic 'Boldhari', composed of bold' which means 'daring' and 'hari' which means 'army'. Jean Boudeau was born around 1641 to Martin and Marie Foucault of Saint-Porchaire in Saintonge. He married Marie-Rose de Vizien on September 12, 1673, in Quebec. Widowed, childless, he married on December 13, 1689 in Charlesbourg Élisabeth Pivain, daughter of Pierre and Marie Birard. They will have 11 children. Arrived in 1666 as a servant, released from this contract in 1669, he worked as a lumberjack; in 1671, he bought a first piece of land and then another. A widower, he left for La Malbaie but returned after two years; he settled on his land in Bourg-Royal and remarried. He was still living in 1712 at the wedding of one of his daughters, and died shortly after.
