Biography
MÉNARD - variant of Magnard, from the Germanic name 'Magenhard', which means 'robust-seasoned'.

Adrien Ménard was baptized in January 1730 in St-Jean-Baptiste, France. Son of François Ménard and Louise Guérard, he married Angélique Dupont, daughter of Noël Dupont and Angélique Morneau, in November 1764 in Cap Saint-Ignace. From this union were born at least 5 children. Arrived in the country before 1759 as a navigator, he settled in Cap Saint-Ignace, then in Islet. His wife having died, he married Charlotte Gamache, daughter of Joachim and Marie-Scholastique Thibault, in 1778 at Islet. From this union were born 6 children. He died in Islet in 1809.
