Services for Mrs. Martha Douglas Bost, a retired employe of Carson Pirie Scott & Co., will be in Yakima, Washington. Mrs. Bost, a former Chicago-area resident, died Thursday in a nursing home in Santa Monica, California.
Mrs. Bost worked in the personnel department of Carsons in Chicago for thirty-one years before retiring in 1966. In World War II, she was cited for promoting war bond purchases by Carson employes and for her work as a member of the Chicago WAVE Recruiting Committee. Mrs. Bost taught a course in personnel administration at Northwestern University before joining Carsons in 1935.
She was the sister of the late United States Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas and the late Arthur F. Douglas, president of the Statler Hotel Corp.
