Obituary
Robert Saunders Thompson, 58, of Marblehead, died Sunday, Nov. 23, at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Hilda M. (Leavitt) Thompson.

Born in Boston, the son of the late Bertrand H. and Christina M. (Saunders) Thompson, he was a graduate of Hanover High and Fitchburg State College, class of 1968.

Mr. Thompson was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

A member of the Boston Teachers' Union, he taught auto mechanics in the Boston school system for 24 years until his retirement in 1985. He taught at Boston Trade School and Brighton High.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Thompson leaves two sons, John and Thomas Thompson of Marblehead; a brother, Richard Thompson of Hanover; a sister, Carol Johnson of Burlington.

The funeral was held Wednesday Nov. 26, from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, followed by a mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.

Burial was in Waterside Cemetery.
