LEWISTON — Mary E. Prue, 94, of Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 23, at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center.

She was born in Lewiston on April 3, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Grace (Cobb) Philbrick.

She was married to Francis Prue on June 2, 1969; he died on Jan. 7, 2006.

Mary loved working with children from the Chase Home for children in Portsmouth. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Growing up, Mary's greatest joy was the Lewiston YWCA, on the corner of Pine and Bates Streets, where she went on trips and learned to embroider.

She was proud of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Charles Hayes, and his wife, Phyllis, of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one son, Dr. Kenneth Hayes.
