Obituary
Funeral services for Sylvester Brown SAYRE, former county sheriff and assessor of the county, were held from the Epworth church in Ripley on Saturday afternoon Dec. 22, with the Rev. John J. LOUDIN in charge and burial was in the Otterbein cemetery. The Vail Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Mr. SAYRE died at his Ripley home shortly after 4 o'clock on Friday evening, Dec 20. He had been seriously ill and death had been expected. During the past two and more years he had been practically an invalid, and on Wednesday night prior to his death double pneumonia developed and members of the family were told that the end was only a few hours away.

Sylvester Brown SAYRE, son of John Wesley and Nora (BROWN) SAYRE, was born at Colrain, Ohio, Nov 1, 1870 and died Dec 20, 1940 at Ripley, age 70 years, 1 month and 19 days.
