Union-News (Springfield, MA) - December 22, 1997

Alvin J. Gagnon Jr., 68, of 21 Davenport St. died Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was a commissioner and director for the Chicopee Veterans Service Department since 1976. He was the executive director for the Goodwill Industries from 1964 until 1976. He was previously a rehabilitation specialist for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Leeds.

He was a mental disabilities supervisor for Massachusetts Rehabilitation from 1959 until 1964.

He began his career as an investigator for the Chicopee Veterans Service Department. He was a lifelong resident here.

He was graduate of Wilbraham Academy and received his bachelor's degree from American International College in Springfield. He earned his master's in education and rehabilitation counseling from Springfield College. He received degrees in municipal management and computer training ...Read MORE...
