Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

Death information
Police Probing Death of Man Found at Home

MANCHESTER - Police and the medical examiner's office are investigating the death of Raymond L. Hagenow. Jr., 39, of 85 Branford St., who was found dead in his home Friday at about 10:51 p.m, police said Saturday. Police declined comment on the cause or circumstances of Hagenow's death. Hagenow's body was taken to the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington Friday night for an autopsy Saturday. Dr. Robert R Keeney, medical examiner, could not be reached for comment Saturday. Hagenow was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He was employed as a driver for the Manchester Oil and Heating Company for about five years. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Carol. M. Uriano Hagenow, two daughters, Deborah A. Hagenow and Sheri-Lynn Hagenow, his mother, Mrs. Bernice Beebe Hagenow, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Belle Maron Hagenow, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold C.
