Former Resident to Wed in New York

NEW YORK, July 17 - A marriage license was obtained at the city clerks office yesterday by Mrs. Florence Richford, formerly of Worcester, Masss., now of 154 West 64th street, and Arthur Godwin of the same address. The couple say they would be married in New York soon.

The bride-elect, daughter of Frank and Anna (Lovely) Mossa, was born in Clinton, Mass. She was divorced from Oscar W. Richford a year ago. They lived in Worcester. Mr. Godwin was born in New Bedford, Mass., son of Thomas and Emma (Kelly) Godwin.

Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. The crisis ended when Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba and secretly agreeing to remove American missiles from Turkey.

Mrs. Arthur Godwin

Mrs. Florence B. (Mossa) Richford Godwin, 66, of 10 Elm St., Millbury, died Sunday in City Hospital.

Born in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Lovely) Mossa, Sr. and lived im Millbury 22 years.

She leaves her husband, Arthur Godwin; two sons, Donald Richford of Oxford and Leonard Richford of Millbury; a daughter, Florence, wife of Roger Benoit of Worcester; two brothers, Frank Mossa, Jr. of Royalston and George Mossa, Sr. of Leicester; two sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Baker in California and Mrs. Mildred Lidonici of Worcester; 13 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from Mulhane HOme for Funerals, 45 Main St. Millbury, with a Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Millbury.

Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
