Leonardo Palumbo, 91, of the Rhode Island Veteran's Home, a machine operator for Imperial Knife Co., Providence, for 30 years before retiring in 1957, died yesterday in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, after a three-week illness. He was the husband of the late Gaetana (Piemontese) Palumbo.

Born in Manfredonia, Province of Foggia, Italy, a son of the late Matteo and Francesca (Tricarica) Palumbo, he had lived in Bristol since 1928.

Mr. Palumbo was an Army veteran of World War I, and an honorary member of the American Legion Kearney Post No. 6. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

He leaves a son, Frank L. Palumbo of Bristol; five daughters, Philomena Barboza of Deltona, Fla., Mary DiPaola, Anna Oliver and Virginia Sousa, all of Bristol and Antonetta Amaral of Warren; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, State Street, at 10. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
