Barbara Mason McClain, 97, died peacefully on Sunday February 4, 2024 on what would have been her 80th wedding anniversary. Barbara was born in New London CT on August 16, 1926 but lived in Louisville for most of her life. She was a Parish Visitor for Springdale Presbyterian Church and a former volunteer in mission for Jubilee Housing in the inner city of Louisville. She loved learning and education, shown by her enrolling at the University of Louisville at the age of 79. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology in 2010. She then received a Master of Arts in Religion degree from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2012. She was a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Ervin A McClain; three sons Terry, Roger, and Kevin; and her sister Shirley Roederer. Surviving is her son Richard; his daughters Rachel (Gary), their daughters Tesni and Bronwen, and Hannah; daughter in law Kathy; her daughters Samantha, her sons John and Mason, and Denise, her daughter Makynzie; her grandchildren Adrian (Matt), her daughters Evelyn and Julia; and Michael; daughter in law Peggy; her sons Kevin Jr (Meg), his children Faelynn and Rafe; and Brian (Kim), and his daughters Paige, Bryna, and Macie.

Barbara’s Memorial Service will be held at Springdale Presbyterian Church, 7812 Brownsboro Road, on Saturday, February 17. Visitation will be at 1:00 and the Memorial Service will be at 2:00. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Springdale Church Memorial Fund.
