Van Buren, Oct 19 - J. R. Sprinkle, who was found in an abandoned house on the river front late last Friday evening, Oct 16, 1908 and carried to the Farmers’ Hotel in an unconscious condition, died the day following, Oct 17, 1908, without having regained consciousness. It developed that Sprinkle had at frequent intervals worked in the transfer department of the Iron Mountain at Van Buren Arkansas, but for some reason he led the life of a recluse when not at work, usually sleeping in abandoned buildings. It developed before his death that he formerly lived at Fayetteville Arkansas. His wife, from whom he was living apart, still resides there. The body was taken there for interment last night.
Two daughters of the deceased, Ada Sprinkle and Dora Sprinkle, live in Fort Smith Arkansas where they are employed as waitresses in a restaurant, but they were not located by the Van Buren officials until after his death. When the body was taken to Hunt’s undertaking room to be prepared for burial $75 was found on the body, and it is understood he has some money still due him from the railroad company.
