Funeral of Horace J. Fairfield
Becket, Dec. 3 - The funeral of Horace J. Fairfield who died at the House of Mercy hospital in Pittsfield Thursday night after an operation, was held at the Baptist church at 2 yesterday afternoon. Rev Charles I. Ramsey, pastor of the Becket Federated church, officiated with prayer and eulogy. Miss Emily McCormick sang "Abide With Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Miss Ester E. McCormick at the piano. The church was filled with friends and relatives and Becket Grange, of which he as a past master and member of the executive committee, attended in a body. The large number of floral tokens showed the respect in which he was held. Among the flowers were a large wreath of chrysanthemums from Becket Grange and a wreath of chrysanthemums and carnations from M. E. Ballou & Son and employees, where Mr. Fairfield was a valued employee and an appreciated fellow workman. Burial was in the family plot in the Pittsfield cemetery with six past masters of Becket Grange as bearers: Stuart H. Eames, present master; George E. Davis, Howard R. Molineux, Meron E. Johnston, Ernest F. Schulze and Edward Wood.
