Lucina M BLANCHARD
Obituary

"The Naples Record" 26 April 1893:

"Died, in the village of Middlesex, Yates Co., February 27th, 1892, Mrs. Lucina Darling, aged 52 years. Mrs. Darling will be remembered by many throughout this section as the wife of the late Dr. Darling, who at one time was known the country over as a very expert and successful veterinary surgeon. She was the daughter of Mr. Hiram Blanchard, of Conewango, and a sister of Mrs. J. J. Greeley, of this place. She was born and reared in this town and was a woman who made friends wherever she went. She raised up a family of children who have now grown to man and womanhood, three of whom are left to mourn her death. It is impossible for your correspondent to do justice to the memory of this respected lady with so few of the particulars at hand, and we do not think it necessary to eulogize upon the character and past life of one so well known, loved and respected. She needs no marble column pointing upward to the heaven which she sought to tell us of her home, for all who knew the charitable, Christian spirit of this departed friend, will know that she has gone to the "home of the blest," where the pure and the good shall stand, clad in white rainment at God's right hand," as expressed by the poet, and which she was so often heard quoting and singing."
