Obituary
Former Grants Pass resident Frank Arnold Shepard, 87, of Vancouver, Wash., died Tuesday, Jan., 25, 2000, at Fort Vancouver Nursing Center in Vancouver.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors chapel. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with Steve Parker, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1912, in Superior, Wis. In 1932, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in Klamath Falls. On June 28, 1938, in Klamath Falls, he married Dorothy V. Settle, who died March 18, 1996. In 1949 he moved to Grants Pass from Klamath Falls. Shepard worked for Pacific Power & Light for 38 years as a credit manager, retiring in 1974.
Shepard had also served on the Grants Pass School Board budget committee.
He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grants Pass. He served as president with the American Red Cross and the Parent Teacher Association at Highland Elementary School, and also belonged to the Rose Society and the Toastmasters.
Shepard's hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, and raising roses.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Shepard of Eugene and Daniel Shepard of Grants Pass; two daughters, Cheri Hembree of Woodinville, Wash., and Cheryl Shepard of Vancouver, Wash.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A stepson, Gerald W. Liable, died before him.
