Obituary
CHITTENANGO — Olive Loucks, 92, of 629 Lakeport Road, Chittenango, and a former Whitelaw resident, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at University Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was born on May 20, 1918, in Jay, N.Y., the daughter of Mint and Georgia Hewitt Straight.
Olive lived in Syracuse for many years, graduating from Ausable Forks High School in 1936. She later moved to Whitelaw in 1964, where she lived until moving to Chittenango in 2004.
She had been the Office Manager for Herbert Lees Assoc., Inc., in Syracuse for fifteen years, retiring in 1969.
Olive had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Lebanon Chapter No. 150.
She has been a member of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, and The Women's Home Circle of the church.
Olive enjoyed baking, traveling, and working at church functions.
She first married Raymond S. Wamsganz on May 2, 1953 in Stittville, N.Y. Ray died on March 3, 1985. She later married Vernon M. Loucks on June 6, 1992, in Whitelaw.
Surviving besides her husband, Vernon, are three step-daughters, Eleanor Blanton, Patti Grimes, and Betty Reisbit; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Olive was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Carlos Straight; and a sister, Eva Sisko.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, 8665 N. Main Street Road, Canastota. The Rev. Earl Arnold, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 3-7 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, 8665 N. Main Street Road, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
