Obituary
On Thursday January 31, 2002 Louise Marie Boisselle (nee Paul) of Calgary, lost a long and unfair fight with Alzheimer's disease at the Bow View Manor, at the age of 84 years. Mom was born July 13, 1917 in St. Boniface Manitoba, the second youngest of six children to Louis Joseph Paul and Mary Helene Thibert. She met and married Dad and gave life to her first three children in Winnipeg where they lived until 1950. They headed west that year intending to liv in Vancouver, but the beauty of Calgary stole their hearts and they stayed, and three more children were born. Mom worked many years for the Hudson's Bay Company downtown, retiring in 1978. Then, at the urging of relatives already there, Mom and Dad again moved west, this time to Kelowna, B.C. where their "High Road Hotel" became a haven for family and friends to visit. When Dad died in 1990, Mom longed to be back in Calgary where she still had old friends and most of her family, and she has resided here since. Mom leaves to mourn her passing, her children Eugene Rowland (Lauretta), Marie Louise Adele Fortini (Mario), Richard Anthony (Cathy), Denis Roger (Sandy), Bruce Emile (Diane), and Leona Anne Hume (Rob); seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Antoinette Gray and her brother Harry Richards. Mom was predeceased by her husband of fifty-four years, Joseph Adelard Boisselle. Mom worked hard all of her life and never surrendered to adversity. She fought for her kids and she fought for her life until the end, and we are stronger because of her. Our thanks to the staff at Extendicare Hillcrest for their thoughtful care, and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Todd and the loving staff at Bow View Manor who cared so deeply for Mom in her final days.
