PUTNAM - Raymond R. Lachapelle, 82, of 6 Ballou St., an avid golfer and retired store clerk, died Sunday at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Theresa D. (Dery) Lachapelle a daughter, Lorna Lachapelle of Carlsbad, Calif. a brother, Alvin Lachapelle of Zephyr Hills, Fla. a half-sister, Georgette Coderre of Putnam a grandson, Christopher Dunn of Valley Center, Calif. a granddaughter, Kathleen Dunn of Brooklyn, N.Y. nieces and nephews. He was born in North Grosvenordale, son of Adelard and Pamela (Langlois) Lachapelle, and lived there until moving to Putnam 12 years ago.
Mr. Lachapelle was a clerk for 25 years at Surprenant's Store, North Grosvenordale. He then worked at Cranston Print Works, Webster, for five years before retiring in 1981. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church, North Grosvenordale, and also attended St. Mary Church of the Visitation. He was a life member of Putnam Lodge of Elks 574 and a member of Quinnatisset Country Club, Thompson.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., North Grosvenordale. After cremation, burial will be at the family's convenience in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. PUTNAM, CT Theresa (Dery) Lachapelle, 87, formerly of North Grosvenordale, died Monday, February 12, 2007 at Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Raymond R. Lachapelle. Born in North Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Henri and Leona (Brodeur) Lachapelle.
Mrs. Lachapelle worked as an inspector for American Optical for over 25 years. She also worked for Cluett Peabody & Co. She always was one to put others first.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Lorna Lachapelle of Putnam a brother, Maurice Dery of North Grosvenordale two grandchildren, Dr. Kathleen Marshall and Christopher Dunn and two great- grandchildren, George Marshall and Cassandra Marshall.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Theresas family at 9:00 AM, Friday, February 23, 2007 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Matulaitis Nursing Home, 10 Thurber Road, Putnam, CT 06260.
