SOUTHBRIDGE - Geneva (Proulx) Girouard, 87, formerly of Cross Street, died yesterday in Providence House Nursing Home, 84 Chapin St., after an illness.
Her husband, Aime Girouard, died in 1978. She leaves a son, Robert A. Girouard of Southbridge; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Adolphe and Adeline (Lippe) Proulx, and lived here all her life.
She attended the former Academie Brochu.
Mrs. Girouard worked at the former Ames Worsted Co. for many years before she retired.
She was a member of Notre Dame Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Sodality.
The funeral will be Monday, with a Mass at 11:15 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, 456 Main St. Burial will be in New Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Residents Activity Fund of Providence House Nursing Home, 84 Chapin St.; or Notre Dame Church, Renovation Fund, 61 Marcy St., both Southbridge, 01550. Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., is directing arrangements.
