SOUTHBRIDGE - Bertha L. (Vaillancourt) Thompson, 100, of Chapin Street, a former longtime secretary at American Optical Co., died yesterday in Providence House Nursing Home.
Her husband, Charles R. Thompson, died in 1975. She leaves a son, Willard "Ray" Thompson of Southbridge a brother, Earl Vaillancourt of Franklin Centre, Quebec, Canada three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was born in Franklin, Quebec, daughter of Joseph and Rosalie (Tremblay) Vaillancourt, and lived here 70 years. She was educated in Franklin Centre and Ormstown (Quebec) schools.
She was a secretary at American Optical Co. for many years before she retired. She previously worked in Montreal, Canada.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O.
