Biography
Louis Pasteur, a towering figure in the history of science, lived from December 27, 1822, to September 28, 1895. Born in Dole, France, Pasteur's early life gave little indication of the scientific revolution he would lead. His family was not wealthy, and his humble beginnings did not suggest that he would become one of the most influential figures in microbiology.
Pasteur initially studied at the Royal College of Besançon before moving on to the prestigious École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
