Early Life:
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts, into a wealthy and politically influential family. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, was a successful businessman and served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. Kennedy grew up in a family with a strong commitment to public service.

Military Service:
During World War II, Kennedy served in the United States Navy. He commanded a patrol torpedo boat (PT-109) in the Pacific theater. In 1943, his boat was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer, but Kennedy's leadership helped save members of his crew. This experience added to his hero status.

Political Career:
After the war, JFK entered politics. In 1946, he was elected as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives and later served as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts from 1953 to 1960. In 1960, he successfully ran for the presidency against Richard Nixon, becoming the youngest person ever elected to the office at the age of 43.

Tragically, Kennedy's presidency was cut short on November 22, 1963, when he was assassinated while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas.
