Mrs. LEROY LOOMIS
NORTH BENNINGTON - Mrs. LeRoy Loomis, 55, the former Mae Lee of Bennington, who resided on Sage Street here, died at Putnam Memorial Hospital Sunday morning after a year's illness.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lee of Bennington, she was born in Enfield, N.H., July 15, 1908. She had attended schools in Burlington and Bennington. She was married to Mr. Loomis Oct 22, 1924 in North Bennington with the Rev. Thomas J. Burke, then pastor of St. John the Baptist Church, officiating.
She had been active in the North Bennington Firemen's Auxiliary, of which she was a member. Her home and family had been her primary interests.
Survivors besides her husband, LeRoy L. Loomis, are seven daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bertha) Greene of Bennington, Mrs. Arnold (Marjorie) Herrick of Concord, N.H., Mrs. William (Jean) Avdoulos of Williamstown, Mass., Mrs. William (Shirley) Carroll of North Bennington, Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Williams of North Bennington, Miss Donna and Miss Jacqueline Loomis, both of North Bennington; seven sons, LeRoy L. Jr. of Englwood, Calif.; Clifton, George, Ronald and Dennis of North Bennington and Robert of Bennington; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee of Bennington; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Bourassa of Bennington; two brothers, Robert and Herbert Lee, both of Bennington; one stepsister, June Lee of Bennington; 29 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 pm with the Rev. William Abernathy, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery, North Bennington.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm when the family will be in attendance.
