MARIA CARFORA OBITUARY
Maria Antonia Carfora of Congers, NY, entered into final place of rest on Wednesday, February 28, 2007. She was 95 years old. She was born on September 19, 1911 in Brooklyn, New York to Antonio and Genarosa Leone. Maria was married on January 26, 1929 to Louis Carfora. She was a garment worker in Brooklyn and retired in 1980. Maria is survived by her loving daughter, Lillian Slattery of Congers, NY, a sister-in-law, Yolanda Terano of Stony Brook, Long Island, NY, seven cherished grandchildren; Kathleen Whelan, Dennis Slattery, Mary Bennett, Louis Slattery, Joan Harten, Joseph Slattery, and Antonia Sambevski. Twenty great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband Louis in 1973, and her son-in-law Joseph Slattery. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Church, Congers, NY, with her interment to follow in the family plot of the Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, NY. Her family will be present to receive friends on Friday, March 2, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, NY 10920.
